How To Measure Your Kid

Height:

Have your kid stand as straight and tall as possible against a wall. Your kid should wear socks but no shoes. Place a book or other stiff object on his/her head parallel to the floor and mark the spot where the book meets the wall. Measure from the floor to the mark. Chalk or a very light pencil mark will be easiest to erase when you are done.

Chest / Bust:

Have your kid stand with his/her arms out to the sides. Measure at the fullest part of the chest/bust over underwear. Your tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Waist

Have your kid stand with his/her arms out to the sides. For pants measure over underwear at the smallest part of the waist. Again, your tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Seat / Hips

Have your kid stand comfortably and measure over underwear at the fullest part of the seat/hips. As with the other measurements, the tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Inseam

Have your kid stand up straight with his/her legs slightly apart. Your kid should wear socks but no shoes. Measure from the crotch, along the leg to the floor. Subtract 1 1/2 inches from this number for the inseam measurement.

Now you have all the info you need to correctly measure your kid.
